Susan Bearden was born and raised in Houston and earned her degree in Psychology / Childhood Development from Stephen F. Austin State University. She has lived in Fort Bend County since 1999, has 2 adult children, and currently resides in Katy with her husband.

She has been the Director of the Special Programs Unit for the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department since March 2015. Prior to this, she was the Program Director for CROSSROADS: Community Partnership for Youth under the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department for 20 years.

Susan oversees a team of 9 staff members in her unit. In addition, she is responsible for Fort Bend Partnership for Youth, Inc. This non-profit agency began in 1996, with the help of Sam Dick and others. It operates as an auxiliary organization for the department by financially supporting a variety of programs, projects, and everyday needs for the juveniles involved.
