Ken Fountain began as Managing Editor of the Fort Bend Star in November 2022. A Houston native, he began his communications career as a U.S. Navy journalist aboard an aircraft carrier based in San Diego. He has worked as a reporter, editor, and online producer for newspapers large and small in Southern California and Southeast Texas, a correspondent for a national legal news service, and a stringer for an international wire service. He has covered petrochemical news for an industry news service and has worked in marketing in the academic and nonprofit spheres. He is a member of Military Veterans in Journalism and has previously served as a board member of the Houston chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, and has been a member of Investigative Reporters and Editors and the Society of Environmental Journalists. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and biking, and attending cultural and educational events around Greater Houston. He lives in Missouri City.
