ARTreach delivers art programs to the most vulnerable populations in Fort Bend, Harris, and Waller Counties.  Programs are offered to underserved children in the arts, individuals with special needs, senior adults, and the community.  Melba is a retired Houston Independent School District educator with 34 years of service.  More than 10 years ago, she walked into an ARTreach classroom at a local senior center and has been there ever since.  She began volunteering in the programs and later became a teaching artist. Melba specializes in mixed media.  Mixed media, Melba says, “allows the participants to use diverse materials and techniques to inspire creativity and self-expression.” The programs in ARTreach celebrate the joys of artistic discovery, where the teaching artists and the program participants can explore their creativity and tell their own stories.
